W|W internships are available in Boone, NC (and some remote options) every spring, summer, and fall! We follow App State’s school calendar, running approximately 15 weeks. Not all positions listed below are available each semester so please check the application for updated positions. Our positions are unpaid but we do provide an excellent internship experience!

Internship Opportunities

+ International Programs Intern

January-April

This position will be responsible for supporting the operations of the International Programs team. Their role will include supporting W|W office management, data cleaning, communications, and researching WASH resources & educational materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Transcribing team meetings and create action plans
  • Administrative support including data systems management (mWater)
  • Research & development of WASH program resources

+ Operations & Logistics Intern

January-April

(15-20 Hours/Week)

The Operations and Logistics Intern will gain first-hand involvement in providing clean water access across the globe by assisting in the execution of the Filter Build program. They will work alongside and lead volunteers in the process of quality controlling, preparing, and packaging Filter Builds to be sent to events as well as into the field. This intern will also aid in the distribution of merchandise and general logistics needs within our headquarters office. In doing so, the intern will gain first-hand experience working with different shipping systems and managing inventory in Salesforce.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist and lead volunteers in the movement of Wine to Water's Sawyer Filters (quality control, packaging, shipping)
  • Track inventory movements in Salesforce
  • Assist with preparation and deployment of filters and materials for Emergency Response efforts
  • Pick, pack, and ship store orders

+ Events Intern

The Filter Build Intern is primarily responsible for assisting the Filter Build Coordinator in the event process and acting as a liaison between the Filter Build® team and the other W|W teams. In this position, the intern will manage and execute communication to the marketing team. Specifically providing event photos and details each week on upcoming or current W|W Filter Builds®.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with marketing to update partner resources and external communication resources
  • Assist in managing and organizing program & partner data
  • Research company & partner profiles

Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in event logistics and data management
  • Strong ability to analyze information

+ Grant Research Intern

The Grant Research Intern will have the opportunity to use their research abilities and passion to help to aid the Grant Writer in expanding our reach with clean water. This individual will research Private Foundations and Granting entities and "investors" to find missional alignment and opportunities for partnership.

Responsibilities

  • Research list of potential partners, investors, foundations.
  • Develop lists of additional foundations, partners and investors engaged in similar opportunities.
  • Provide support/assistance in submitting grant applications for Federal or other Granting agencies.

+ Stewardship Intern

January-April

This individual will play an integral role in developing dynamic and compelling stewardship content that helps us properly thank our donors, as well as managing the stewardship process.

Job Responsibilities

  • Print and send out thank you letters in an efficient time frame to donors
  • Creating weekly Call Reports for staff and completing assigned thank you calls to donors
  • CRM contact/account management

+ Philanthropy Intern

January- April

(10-15 Hours/Week)

  • Based in Boone

In this position you will assist the Fund Development team in researching and connecting with leads, partner prospects, and current supporters. This internship requires you to be flexible in this role and be able to move from task-to-task while remaining organized.

Responsibilities

  • Research potential partners - hotel, wine, hospitality, corporate sectors, especially as they pertain to CSR and ESG
  • Assist with data entry
  • Assist with documentation and data organization in Salesforce
  • Assist is partner/donor communications as needed (via email, phone, and mail pieces)

Qualifications

  • Communication skills: written and oral

  • Basic graphic design and excel is desired

+ Volunteer Programs Intern

This individual will play an integral role in assisting with management of volunteers through communications, scheduling, programming that support field experiences domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining database/spreadsheets of volunteer inquiries and applications
  • Liaison between volunteer program manager and volunteers during trip preparations
  • Adhere to standards of patience, professionalism, and enthusiasm in reaching goals

Qualifications

  • Enjoys interacting and communicating with people from all walks of life
  • Adept at using spreadsheets, programming, and mass communication tools
  • Ability to thrive under the pressure of time constraints towards a deadline

+ Marketing Intern

January-April

This individual will play an integral role in developing dynamic, compelling content that helps us properly convey the work of Wine To Water through tone, messaging, and design.

Responsibilities

  • Edit and write copy
  • Research and analyze Wine To Water’s audiences, social media engagement, and public image
  • Organize, find, and label assets
  • Help create posts and monitor social media
  • Help with Marketing Project Management

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Google Suites

Preferred but not required

  • Experience with social media platforms and/or experience with journalism, public relations, and marketing organizations.

+ Monitoring & Evaluation Intern

This position will support the Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator with managing impact data, utilizing our data management platform mWater, to make informed programming decisions and develop reports for Wine To Water (W|W) donors. This role will include the research and development of resources to strengthen the global teams’ capacity to conduct surveys and measure impact of their programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in calls and correspond with global offices
  • Assist with data monitoring and cleanup
  • Research and development of impact indicators
  • Develop training resources for survey enumerators
  • Maintain the global offices’ project management and scheduling in mWater (data management platform)
